Hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) is widely known for its physical strength and retention of properties after long-term exposure to heat, oil and chemicals. HNBR has good heat resistance, oil resistance & resistance to number of aggressive chemicals. The material exhibits high mechanical strength and improved abrasion resistance. It also has superior resistance to weathering, ozone and hot air and very good resistance to technical oils, even in the presence of hydrogen sulphide and amines. HNBR elastomers have excellent resistance to common automotive fluids (e.g., engine oil, coolant, fuel, etc.) and many industrial chemicals.

FKM Rubber is commonly known by DUPONT trade name VITON. The main characteristics of FKM are that they are resistant to high temperatures & their chemical stability. They also display minimal weight loss in high vacuum & also, its permeability to gases is low. VITON is compatible to fire resistant Hydraulic fluids, hot oils, greases, hydrocarbon, chlorinated hydrocarbons & most organic acids, even at high concentrations and with / against a number of organic compounds. It has excellent resistance to hot water and to steam. FKM, however is not resistant to methanol, keytones, esters and ethers. (ketones such as acetone and organic acids such as acetic acid.)

Specialty types include GLT and GF : automotive, oil exploration and special sealing.

EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) elastomer has very good resistance to ozone, ageing and weathering. Hence it is best suited for extruded profile sections and sealing strips. It has good resistance to swelling in hot water, steam, washing liquids, oxidizing media, acids, bases, polar organic media, ketones, fire retardant hydraulic fluids & hydraulic brakes fluids. EPDM is not suitable for use in mineral based oils or hydrocarbons. But in non-mineral automotive brake fluids and phosphate esters, the swelling is minimal.
